Monday Made It #3

I have done more shopping than crafting while home in SC.  I'm driving back to NC today and will have plenty of finds to share on Friday!  I'm planning to stop by Ikea on my way up.  Woot woot!  I love that place!  I think I'm just going to look at lighting, but there is no telling what I'll come out with...  So, like I said, I haven't done much crafting this week, but I do have one thing to show you.

Pillows!!
Do you remember the brightly colored shirts I showed you in my Fabulous Finds post on Friday?  Well, here they are - Pillows!!  The idea just hit me last week.  I knew I wanted floor pills for my library, and I knew I wanted them to be bright colors.  Then I realized that if I use a t-shirt, two sides would already have a seam, and I'd just have to sew up the other two sides.  I didn't even bother trying to do the last seam "properly."  I just sewed along the bottom hem.  SO SIMPLE!!  Aren't they great?  What do you think?

I almost forgot!  I did make something else this week!!  I made a "Where Are We?" sign for outside my classroom.  I made it in PowerPoint (make sure you adjust the page size to 8.5" x 11" if you want to make sure it prints correctly), converted it to a PDF, and then used Staples Printing Services to print it on a thick card stock.  It looks great!

  2. That pillow idea is great! It looks quite easy for someone like me who can't really sew more than a button. I am going to try to make valances for my windows and will be heading to my mom's to have her sew them on her sewing machine:) I am your newest follower!

    1. Thanks!! It was super easy with my mom's sewing machine. I probably wouldn't have done it if I hadn't been home visiting... Ha, I can only imagine what it would have looked like if I'd tried to do it by hand! :)

  5. Love the pillows! I've been about doing pillows as well for my library as well, however I don't own a sewing machine. I may just break down and buy one :-)

    1. Thanks! I used my mom's, but I would like to have one, too. I tried dropping hints while I was home that I could really use one, but my mom ignored me. :) BUT, I realize the only time I would use it would be at the beginning of the school year to set up my classroom. :)
