Music Video Stars

What is better than watching your teachers sing, dance, and act silly in a music video?  I would have loved it when I was a kid.  We definitely do this for the kids!  We didn't have ANY fun recording and filming.  None....  That's such a lie!  :)  This year, we are doing a Math-a-thon to encourage students to learn their math facts.  One of our amazingly gifted 1st grade assistants wrote the lyrics to the song, Blurred Lines.  It turned out pretty good.  We practiced/recorded the vocals yesterday after school.  We probably had to repeat the process 50 times.  Between messing up, changing things, and laughing until we nearly peed our pants, it took quite a while.  The filming took forever, but we had a lot of fun.  The best part??  The first time students see the video, it will be at our Math Parent Night.... in front of PARENTS!  Yay!  Haha!  It's all good... they'll see our awesome dancing skills and think we're cool, right?

Enjoy!

Check out our video from last year...

5th Grade Pop Stars

We had an assembly for the Spell-a-thon today, and they played the Study Maybe video at the end.  I must say, it was a hit!  At one point, I looked over at one of my students and she was just staring at me with her mouth wide open.  It was pretty funny.  Check it out if you haven't already.

Last night, we had a required open house (since we are Title1), so we were trying to get everything ready for parents to visit.  We, finally, updated our small bulletin board where we (5th grade teachers) kind of tell about ourselves.  Last year, we each painted the bottom of one foot and left a print.  We wrote little facts about ourselves.  It was super cute, but we couldn't leave it up for another year.  This year, we decided to print a picture from somewhere on our college campuses and ask, "Where will your future take you?"  I think it turned out pretty good for 20 minutes of work.  Check out both last year's and this year's bulletin boards:

There are only 3 pictures because two of us graduated from Clemson.  Top left Auburn University,  top right Clemson University, bottom left University of North Carolina-Greensboro
I hope everyone had a great "hump-day"!!

Music Video Starring: 5th Grade Teachers

Yesterday, afterschool, instead of doing work, the 5th grade teachers, a Reading Specialist, and our most valuable assistant recorded vocals and a music video for the debut of the Spell-A-Thon at our school.  The 5th grade teachers were asked to do this because we are "the fun ones."  I think that's a lie, but we were all very much willing to participate.  The vocals were recorded on my mac and the video was recorded on an iPad.  I clipped and pieced everything together last night, in only a few hours.  I must say, it was SO MUCH FUN!!  The kids don't know we did this.  I CANNOT wait to see their reactions when they see the video.  :)  I've embedded the video for you below.  Enjoy and let me know what you think!
